@squaremoon Thank you. I got no option really, and sulking and brooding ain’t gonna do much. I don’t want it to sound like I am all positive all day but for most part I keep reminding myself that it will be ok.

Took the Covid and flu shot yesterday and I was knocked out for a solid 24 hours. Worse than actual flu it felt like!

It’s hard to believe it’s been less than a week since I have been let go. The waking up and not having to do anything feeling is real. Is this what retirement feels like? I could get used to this feeling very quickly and that is the worst part of it – I cannot afford to right now. Not yet. If I had a nice sizeable bank balance I would chucked out with this layoff and not bothered anymore. Sigh.

Not like the tech market is super hot that companies are clamoring for me so I gotta keep busy 🤣😂. But also a good excuse to dabble in some ai stuff, do some personal projects etc while job searching on side.

In the last few days I have created a local photo analyzer for myself on my Mac and in the process have dabbled with langchain, rag, retrieval, hallucination, guardrails etc. Considering a lot of my previous work was still similar but at a much higher abstraction level as pm, I thought the concepts would be very easy to understand and relate to. I was wrong. This is a whole new world all together.

I must say playing with local open models has been more fun than I thought and more learning than I anticipated – using Claude etc you don’t really see the action up close it feels like.

It is so hard to keep Gemini focused. It can’t help itself spin around in circles for no particular reason. I am using it to build a local AI project to handle my photo library – my god something that should have taken it one try took 5 different tries – and when I said it was just poor it swiped back saying i learnt new ways of doing things 🤷‍♂️
