Cousin who moved from Dallas to Denver came over for a visit last few days. It was great catching up and he is convincing me to move to Denver. I am actually NOT against the idea of moving to Denver at all. It has everything I want – ample sunshine, nice spring/summer/fall and even the winters are peppered with lots of warmish days though cold days are cold (but hey DC is somehow colder than Denver so thats a win). Plus the famous Denver sun melts the snow in no time so it never becomes a marshy mess like it becomes in DC area. Definitely a city on my list of places to think about.
The weather needs to act for once – tomorrow I need tornadoes and flash floods in all of DC near constitution Avenue. Bonus points if lightning strikes on magats.
I got 25 thuja 2 feet plants that will eventually grow to be 30ft shrubs/trees in very quick time. I planted 5 of them before realizing that my back would prefer if my landscaper did it. And they came out and did the rest of the planting. Now three weeks later I kid you not the only fucking plants that seem to be dying are the ones I planted while the ones they did seem to be flourishing with fresh leaves! I should have left the job to the experts I guess – shame on me for assuming how hard could planting a tree be. 🤣
How do Israelis live with themselves? Aren’t they ashamed of their government? At least Americans are vocal about their displeasure with things – but Israelis? It’s just appalling to see this government just destroying everything around them. History will pay for this.
Sabrina Carpenter is a third class act. White trash at its very best (or worst). Oof. That album cover was absolutely triggering.
Just sad news coming out Ahmedabad (my home town) regarding the Air India Boeing 787 crash. Doesnt look like there will be any survivors? Reminds me of the other crash happened there when I was growing up. I am sure though Boeing will bridge Trumpkin so they don’t have to deep dive why this happened am-i-rite?
Got a nice slack from someone reporting to another manager who basically said my team likes me and how can he be part of our team. How soon before they hate me all is anyone’s guess, but hey I’ll take the small wins.
Crystal City or National Landing as they want to now rebrand this city is such a mess. The only good part are the parts that Amazon redeveloped and made it into a walkable livable community. Everything else is straight out of soviet era bunker style design. And the city is so inconvenient to reach from anywhere. Its not a surprise a lot of companies moved out in the last three decades but I am also hoping that Amazon will revitalize the city as they did in Seattle. They sure have a lot more support to do so here.
My ex-manager who convinced me to come back to the company is leaving in two weeks. It was a bittersweet moment for me. Just around 3 years ago he was on call convincing me to join the newly formed team. We’ve always good relationship before I had left first time, but over last 3 years we became really good friends more than colleagues. He was a great manager, took care of his team (and me) and backed us with fervor; i learnt a lot about management from him that I apply right now. When he called me to tell me he’s out, I couldn’t help but feel sad even though we’ve not been working with each for almost a year. The insane RTO push, and location stickiness, the bureaucracy and lethargy of it all finally just drove him away. I keep thinking how much good talent this company has lost over the last year over this whole RTO nonsense and it shows no signs of subsiding. I for one wish our old boss/CEO never left (or came back). He might have been a shitty person in real life but goddamn he was a great leader and a visionary, which is so sadly lacking anymore today.
I honestly think Apple decided to call all their OS ‘26 is because their leadership is now so old they probably can’t distinguish 18 from the year they are in 😆
