A completely needless sequel. Why does this story exist? It’s just more and more of same but now with even more gore. Was expecting Boyle to come up with something novel and it’s just really a painful watch.

🍿 Good Will Hunting (1997) – ★★★★★
Watched with R and A today. The movie is as charming as ever and man Robin Williams brought a tear to my eye – gone too soon.
🍿 Bison Kaalamaadan (2025) – ★★★★★
Wow, Mari Selvaraj does it again. Forget every Indian sports biopic and watch this one instead. Set against the backdrop of caste/identity and village politics, and gang wars, this is film making at its finest. The cinematography is spectacular, and the way the movie is edited it makes almost 3 hours feel like a breeze. The cast is just all round spectacular. And did I say this is a sports biopic? Kabbadi like never before. Riveting.
🍿 Avatar: Fire and Ash (2025) – ★★★★☆
Gorgeously mounted absolutely pointless threequel. Why does this movie exist other than being a cash grab? The story goes nowhere at all. Unless avatar 4-5 have some of technological marvel to support flimsy plot I think we are done with this series.
🍿 Haq (2025) – ★★★★☆
A well made well acted movie based on life of Shah Bano Begum, whose fight for equal rights for Muslim women went all the way to Supreme Court. The movie is simple and that’s what works – no jingoism or tamasha.
🍿 A House of Dynamite (2025) – ★★★☆☆
The first act was superb and it retains the tension throughout but I wish there was a bit more to it.

Watched it with the kid today. Always a classic and she loved it too!
🍿 Dhurandhar (2025) – ★★★★☆
A solid 3 and half stars – I added half more purely for the soundtrack which I am fan off and how well it’s used in the movie. It absolutely could have done without the jingoistic nonsense towards the end coz it really didn’t need it at all – but for a three and half hour movie it was entertaining enough to wait for the next part. Just how good was Alshaye Khanna though in his role? And refreshing that for pretty much majority of the movie the “hero” of the movie is actually in the background.
