Getting older feels so subtle. Over the last week I’ve had to call someone to move heavy adjustable bed from ground floor to bedroom and assemble it, and I’ve had junk removers take out stuff from our rooms and trash it. Just a few years ago I would be ringing my buddies to move the furniture up ourselves and then also remove junk from other rooms. Now, I can’t even think about it. I’d rather just pay a nominal fee and get it done with and not have to deal with any unforeseen injuries either to me or my friends. Joys of getting old I suppose!

The local gym I go to has a new coach, a woman of Pakistani origin (first generation American whose parents immigrated from Lahore, Pakistan). She is a young trainer, probably just out of college and kicks some serious butt. Fitness training is the last place I expect to see a south asian (& muslim), much less a woman so when she joined as a coach I was surprised! And boy within a short few weeks she has already carved a name for herself within the gym community. She has built a reputation for being a terrific fucking coach that people look forward to training with! I hope that she continues to coach at the gym for a while, and honestly what an inspiration to all the young girls, and parents like me who don’t usually view fitness industry as a place where desis can break into.

PS: Thats what I love about this area in general – the incredible diversity of people!

Thumbtack has consistently worked for me to find the right pros at a reasonable cost. Of course you need to wait for multiple bids, but you will find a great pro to do your work. Over the last week I’ve used thumbtack for junk removal and assembling a adjustable bed (which weighed 150 pounds ugh!) and both times, fellas were on time, courteous and got the job done in quick time!

This is believable based on our local market. Things are flying off the shelf and still going into bidding wars! Its quite unusual and unbelievable.

>In an unusual pattern, the 12 major housing markets west of Texas, plus Austin, saw home prices fall in January, while the opposite happened in the rest of the country.

Argh, pollen season. Its funny how over the years pollen allergies have become an issue; For the first decade or more in the country I do not remember ever having allergies. I dont have severe allergies even now but its unmistakably there.

What exactly is Kamala Harris upto? I get that the VP is a largely ceremonial position, but from the very beginning Biden has talked about him being a bridge candidate. His age is a concern and he knows it and we all know it, and yet it seems like there has been no concerned effort to position Kamala as upcoming successor so to speak. She is pretty much MIA (whether its her own doing, or media, or anything else), but if democrats and she herself were serious about Biden being that bridge candidate, she would be far more in public eye. Even Pete seems to be saying/acting more presidential lately than Kamala. Don’t think this bodes well for democrats that they are now depending on a 80 year old to do it for them, yet again.

Went to a well regarded desi restaurant last night – Rupa Vira Celebrations after planning for it for a while. The tikka “masala” was the closest thing to india flavor that I have had. The Kala khatta margarita worked superbly. all in wll a greag meal! a decade ago Rupa Vira was building her business by delivering home cooked meals to bachelors and busy families. Now not only she still does that she also runs two fantastic restaurants in the area.

Haven’t finished Pathaan yet but my god it’s so atrocious it’s ridiculous
