Some parents are so well planned out – met a parent other day who had planned a ski trip this weekend in Colorado coz schools are out for teacher work days for 2 days and this calendar came out last fall. Me and one other parent were like lol we come to know schools are closed literally one week in advance when kid tells us and the other parent gave us serious judgy looks.

Apparently housing is showing signs of coming back to life it seems. If you look at redfin in this area I am not sure if was ever dead. I mean sure prices did drop by 20-30k & on market longer, but houses are still going. Increasingly not seeing any bidding but sales at list prices – but the list price itself is still high enough that most people selling are still making money, especially people who bought their homes 20-30 years ago.

It’s a sad feeling to see your child discover herself she is never going to be as good as she thought about something. Off late the kid has had sobering realization that she is never going to be as good at swimming as some of her friends are (a couple are in top 5 nationally for their ages), while my kid though is good is strictly middle of the curve. We knew that. But it’s still sad to see herself discovering it. We are not the sugar coating “if you dream it you will” type parents, but we have been inculcating the value of sports, camaraderie, health and overall interest and fun in swimming. So our focus has been to encourage her to think how much better she already is compared to many others, and how much this is going to help her health, and may be even land a summer job or two and even it doesn’t, it’s nothing lost. It’s ok being just ok at something.

Sod installed Tuesday followed by rain most of the day yesterday equals to well established roots I am hoping! I guess advantage of sodding now is that it keeps raining every couple of days so don’t really need to do anything. Come to think of it, the only times you really need to “water” your plants/grass in this area is if you have an extended dry run in summers which doesn’t happen very often. Otherwise going 2 weeks without rain is a miracle.

The amount of people virtue signaling on LinkedIn regarding industry layoffs is kinda nauesating. Yeah, you don’t need to post a long winded message about how pained you are by other people who were laid off, and how you can be their trusted resource to lean on, connect, coach, recommend and more. Like boss, if you truly care, reach out directly to the people who you know are impacted and help? Its not like any one person has capacity to help hundreds. You can help one or two, maybe focus on that? This LinkedIn karma point game has to stop.
