In many ways February is the worst weather month. Majority of winter months are behind you, but often the coldest stretch of weather is now while spring is teasing you from just a few weeks away. By mid March life feels so hopeful again.

This was an acceptable winter until I woke up to snow. Granted it’s a coating but nobody asked for it! Just bring on spring already it’s February!

PSA: Star Bharat has uploaded every episode of Sarabhai Vs Sarabhai on YouTube. We are watching random episodes and this still remains the best comedy India produced. Ratna Pathak Shah and Satish Shah own the show hands down as the titular couple with their brilliant timing.

The other night friend and me were discussing how much we both dislike cold weather as we are getting older and we talked about all options on the table if we wanted to move to a warmer place. The conclusion was maybe Virginia is not so bad after all. Its a tragedy the south of this country is such a dumpster trash, making uber expensive southern california the only option that is worth considering, but we are not rich enough lol.

My overall take on chatGPT is akin to Alexa. When Alexa came out almost a decade ago, voice assistants were heralded as a game changer in the industry. Everyone copied and got their own version of smart voice assistants with some of them even having conversational abilities. Today, I dont know anyone who does any serious kind of work with voice assistants, and their usefulness has basically been limited to *play me a song*, *set timer for x minutes* or *what is the score/weather/time* kind of basic interactions. Such computing revolutions take decades to happen, and I do believe that our grandkids might finally be the voice generation that we once believed Alexa/Google/Siri would make us within 5 years.

So, I think the same of chatGPT. In a few years everyone will be like oh yeah, chatGPT is great but not many will be articulate what is it great at except being a better search engine (no wonder Google is scared). That doesnt mean chatGPT won’t thrive, but like Alexa it will slowly disappear into background and our grandkids might never even know it existed. But to claim that chatGPT is going to solve world problems, or is going to take away all jobs or crush companies and economies is frankly so far fetched and ridiculous. Relax, Skynet is not happening just yet – and definitly not in our timelines.

I have given up trying to fix Safari slowness on M2 Air Mac OS Ventura. Removed all extensions, disabled everything, booted in safe mode (in which it works great!), and did bunch of fixes – and while the performance has improved it still lags so far behind how chrome operates on same notebook, its making me ditch it for good on the Air. At this pt I think this is a M2 Air + OS issue more than anything else, and while there are tons of issues highlighed on forums all over, there is no clear solution to this.

My annual blog post will auto publish in a few hours. This was a difficult one to write, and I had finished writing it almost 2 weeks back to be honest but went back and forth on whether to publish it or not. I thought of making the post private for a while, but eventually I have decided to keep it as is. A lot has changed in the two weeks, but i am not going to change the spirit in which I wrote it.

So what is the endgame for USA in Ukraine? It’s clear at this pt USA is fighting a proxy war with Russia with frankly not much support of anyone else. What happens if and when Ukraine eventually wins, which is a big if at this point and I won’t be surprised if this becomes a years long war. And then what? What does Ukraine have like Middle East does that USA is so involved. I mean democracy and all is fine but let’s be real this country is not throwing billions upon billions into a country without something in return.

*speed limit enforced by radar* has to the stupidest joke government plays on you. Like have you ever met anyone who got pulled over because of, umm, radar?

Amazon really needs to figure out grocery. Amazon fresh, Whole Foods, prime pantry etc etc – too many things, and confusing and now with price increases dor delivery making it increasingly not worth it.
