Oddly after both the kid and I came to peace that compared to larger field her swimming capacity is limited, we have begun to enjoy the swim meets way more. I find more joy now in her incremental improvements and she is not walking out upset at herself or us like she used to after these meets. It’s been refreshing not to be part of hyper competitive pack cheering every stroke and flip. It’s nice! I hope she keeps swimming competitively as long as she can!

It’s annoying when you live on a street by the name of the adjacent city to you so people automatically assume you stay in that city! It’s like I stay at 1 Ashburn drive, but it’s located in Sterling, bordering… Ashburn. Don’t worry I am not giving out my location.

In principle I do not think that companies should fine tune AI to be less mean, racist or assholes. The true test of AI is whether it can learn and make a choice. But I also think that its so risky that it might not be worth creating an army of racist delusional AI douchebags.

So it’s official we are being asked to come back to office at least 3 times a week or more starting in May. It is going to be so hard to enforce this I don’t think it will matter much.
The layoffs in tech are happening at staggering pace it feels like now. Its brutal is all I can say and while people are not feeling it I think the tech meltdown has already reached 2008 levels and perhaps has way more to go.
