I really hate reviewers who rate something quarter points. Like *I rate this 3.75 out of 5* or *I rate this 8.3 out of 10*. Like WTF. What level of minute details are you observing to give your rating like that? I find most such reviewers nonsense and full of themselves.

Yesterday we had a guy over who took 3 hours to assemble 4 different pieces of furniture we ordered from Ikea. I am so fucking glad I outsourced this work to a handyman. Sure I had to pay money, but the time savings and no headache was so worth it. What he took 3 hours to assemble 4 pieces would have guaranteed taken me 3 days of assembling, included much stress on myself and I would have invariably made mistakes (which I always do with assemblies!). Now, this guy got done in 3 hours, all pieces have been arranged in their places and I didn’t need to employ my time. Sure, this is a sign of being able to afford such luxuries, but its also a sign of me getting old and deciding what to spend my time & energy on. A decade ago I would have laughed at myself for even thinking about employing a handy to assemble Ikea furniture and would have gladly spent those 3 days with mistakes included. Now, not so much.

Looks like the famed April showers are a month late? After what was an amazing April May is already looking dreary with rain and cooler temps! Let’s just fucking jump to summer shall we please?!

My first introduction to trash town America was Jerry Springer. Before moving here I had no idea that too was America.

Finally after whst seems like ages Ted lasso comes up with such a good episode! About time.

I honestly have been very surprised and happy with how well ThumbTack has been working for us. We haven’t had one bad experience yet and some of them I’ve called multiple times at this pt. I used TaskRabbit once and it turned out to be crap, so ThumbTack forever now!

Starting next week going back to work from work. Its going to be strange – the last time I was there was almost 3 and half years back. Its gonna feel strange to go back to work from the building again. So much has changed in that time frame.

I really hate it when I wake up at 5 in morning for no reason and then go back to sleep at 6 to wake up at 7 again – fucking wrecks my day! And no, I can’t can’t just stay up either or force myself to sleep either ugh.

My lawn theory says that the neater and classier your lawn looks from outside (cut neatly, manicured edges etc), shallower the inhabitants are inside. Stay away from such people!

We are due for upgrading our cars within the next few years and I have been debating how to strategize it. We have a 2009 MDX fully paid off that is perfect for longer journeys, but not quite enough if we want to do a multi-day trip with the doggo. Its run 110k miles which is not too bad for almost 15 years old at this point. We also have a fully paid off 2012 C300 that has barely run 60k miles, but then its German made so it will work great until it just drops dead and nobody can predict it.

Ideally I wanted to keep the C300 so the kid could use it as her driving car, and maybe even her car in college. But by that time that car is going to be almost 18 years old which gives me the jitters about its longevity. I guess I could use the car as a training car for the kid and then trade in for something else, but I like the thought of paid off car for college even if its almost 2 decades old lol. I dont want to deal with another payment around that time.

Or we could just upgrade our MDX *now* to something slightly bigger like Pilot or Telluride, and then buy another used car for ourselves as the kid goes to college with 18 year old car. But it comes with the risk that the 18 year old car may drop dead anytime so I might have to buy yet another car at that point, or at least contribute to buying (if my kid is that resourceful lol). Or, I could trade in our C300 *now* for another reliable Japanese sedan that kid may take to college. But then again, by that time the MDX is going to be around 21 years old and may have reached its end of life so we may have to buy two cars then.

Or I could just wait and let both these cars run to the ground.

What would you do?
