Preponed our dad’s visit by almost a month. He didn’t explicitly ask for it but he talked about how his best friend from NY who’s not been doing well called him up. Apparently according to my brother it was a very somber phone call with his friend telling my dad he doesn’t have too many days to live and every conversation they have might be the last for him. They already lost their third wheel few years ago and t… https://stupendous.blog/2026/07/17/9134/

So not an AC person haha. I had to step out on deck for a bit to escape the AC.
Last weekend of summer swim meets this weekend with divisionals later in week if qualified. I always am both relieved and sad at end of summer swim. Relieved because we can finally rest easy on weekends/weekdays instead of volunteering and sad because it’s like the beginning of last part of summer. This year I am also feeling the blues because we now have only 2 more summer swim seasons left technically before she heads off to college.
Last night as I wrapped up the kitchen I overheard my wife saying “you’ve exceeded expectations…!”. Beaming with pride I turned around only to see her complimenting our bloody vacuum cleaner for taking 2+ hours to do a full clean.
I asked Gemini to create a LinkedIn shitpost about leadership lessons I learnt today after watching the semi final. This is what it came up with: Here is a draft for your LinkedIn post, structured to stand out in the feed with clean formatting, high scannability, and a sharp, engaging hook. Spain vs. France: Why System Trumps Superstars in Leadership Like millions of others, I watched the Spain vs. France match today. While the tactica… https://stupendous.blog/2026/07/14/9126/
Diego Maradona (2019) – ★★★★☆ I can’t believe I had never watched this Asif Kapadia docudrama. Not quite Senna heights, but equally heartbreaking. Beautiful watch and I guess in time during World Cup.
It’s a weird take to say FIFA planned it in such a way the the top 4 ranked teams met for semi finals. This is true for almost world sports. When was the last time you saw a Federer-Nadal/Djokovic or Alcaraz-Sinner play each other in round of 16 or even quarter finals? They are almost always grouped that way to give them maximum chances to meet up as far ahead as possible. It’s by design.
@pratik That is very true. I mean it is not sunk cost as I in I didn’t pay for it – came with the house. I should just seriously look at replacing it! Maybe before tariffs hit!
I am shocked by how empty the metro was from downtown dc. At 5pm! Is it a Friday thing? Or a summer thing? To imagine people are stuck in their cars on i66 for hours when the metro is going empty. Americans truly are idiots.
The teen had a blast today meeting the congressmen and senator. She also met their deputies (in fact talked to them more) and also got to travel the underground capital subway system meant for senators/house staff only. The deputies gave her their cards and asked to be in touch if she as interested in volunteering or internship next year. Needless to say she was on cloud 9 getting to see up close how things worked.
