@swoods @pratik I swear. I forgot about him. And then i read this today https://arstechnica.com/ai/2026/09/faa-tees-up-875m-ai-tool-to-help-manage-air-traffic-congestion/ — what could go wrong?
masto
It’s annoying because I use Siri for basic things – I have never expected it to do anything meaningful. But now it seems like it can do more advanced stuff but can’t get basic stuff right. You’d think a model migration would retain memory?
Siri has simultaneously gone better and worse at same time. Using CarPlay today:
Me: play my favorite songs
Siri: sure playing my favorite songs by xxxz…
(Had to specifically say play my current favorite playlists, something I never did earlier)
Me: play something I will like
Siri: sure, here is something I will like by xxxxy….
(Previously it would just tune to my radio station with message “sure, here’s some tracks just for you”)
Why is this so fucking difficult for Siri? Frustrating.
We are in midst of an accelerated technology cycle. The 80s saw the rise of mainframe computers that led to all the computational power moving from a big server farm to a home computer – back to servers and cloud – and then back to bringing that same computational power to handheld devices. Only a matter of time before the same happens with AI. Today you need the server farms but it’s also horribly expensive to run. The next generation of personal devices will be so capable that local inferences itself will absorb 90% of the computational cost. If anthropic and OpenAI can survive till then on their hype and hoopla, they will succeed. How fast the cost of inference will come down is key. In short we need much more capable phones at a lower price point with better chips. Good time to bet on semi conductor industry I say!
@pratik If a human hacker hacked companies the way agents did it, they would be in jail in no time serving years if not decades. But somehow ai agents doing the same is “cool” nowadays.
@pratik @santoshhari Khayali pulao mat pakao mere bhai.
We have seen quite a few beautiful places this year but nothing comes close to experience of the humongous sand dunes at Paracas in Peru. The whole experience was surreal and felt something else – something really unique that can’t be experienced anywhere else.

@pratik It is way too too easy to rake up huge bills on these.
@pratik Yeah at work we don’t have to pay so I never bothered to check but caught me by surprise
@AnirbanM @santoshhari We tried getting into the show a while but couldn't, but keep hearing good words about it.
