The reason Wii is out is I guess genz has a new found love of nostalgia? Last time we had a party at ours the teens took out the Wii, connected it to tv and enjoyed themselves for hours! And now my kid is like we are going to make a regular thing in our get together. Everything old is coming back!

I did not know Apple and Google had a data transfer partnership where I can ask Apple to transfer all my iCloud Photos to Google Photos and I don’t have a thing. I wish Amazon and Google had a similar partnership – if I could move all my photos from my amazon photos backup to Google photos backup, I’d be set and I could get rid of Amazon photos forever.

Spent the morning tinkering around with my blog to import my tweets. Finally thanks to gemini I found a decent solution that works and also did not make my posts a mess with some 50k tweets. The tweets are still an archive on a separate page but within wp-content so I keep all of it one place. Works well and exactly what I wanted.

This Christmas I got a ultra cheap camera for the teen coz she’s even begging me for it. Clearly she is a part of Gen Z obsession with nostalgia filters. She spent the entire morning exploring how to best use the camera – I am so hoping she picks up photography with great interest coz I would love to have a partner in crime photographing!

After much thought I did decide to accept the new offer. I will say this both ChatGPT and Gemini were incredibly helpful in evaluating my current situation and the new offer, potential advantages and disadvantages of staying put, modeling financial aspects of offer over 2-4 year time frame and more. The depth of information both provided (especially, surprisingly ChatGPT) was very informational and ultimately swayed my choice to take the new offer. When used right, these AI tools are just very very helpful.

Didn’t think that a casual convo with an ex colleague about what do you think about working together again would end today with an offer in my lap that I am now seriously considering. And to think at beginning of December I was not even looking for a job! I am apprehensive snd excited at same time.

🍿 Dhurandhar (2025) – ★★★★☆

Dhurandhar poster

A solid 3 and half stars – I added half more purely for the soundtrack which I am fan off and how well it’s used in the movie. It absolutely could have done without the jingoistic nonsense towards the end coz it really didn’t need it at all – but for a three and half hour movie it was entertaining enough to wait for the next part. Just how good was Alshaye Khanna though in his role? And refreshing that for pretty much majority of the movie the “hero” of the movie is actually in the background.

Is it just me or just getting older that I can no longer remember lyrics to a song as I once used to? Used to be that if heard a song 5-6 times I would know the lyrics all through but it’s no longer the case – I can hear a song tens of time and still struggle with remembering the lyrics. And yet any of those older songs? I can sing them straight through.

For some reason I always thought New Zealand was a lot more welcoming and tolerant of immigrants but boy that video of white nationalists doing the haka dance to intimidate the Sikh procession is disturbing and hilarious at same time. Hilarious coz it’s white boys doing a Māori dance and the motherfuckers don’t even realize they are doing a stolen dance and they literally stole the land from the natives. Anyway, hopefully not that I plan to move there but certainly thought NZ was better than that.

Gemini at this point seems to be leapfrogging Claude and OpenAI. Case in point today: When we bought our house, it came without a floor plan. During our kitchen renovation time I found a similar listing from years past in our community with exact same floor plan that helped us get some initial mental model in for renovation. I never saved the second floor floor plan and now I have no idea where it is. Today I needed the second floor floor plan for measuring. I decided why not use Gemini to figure out what the second floor floor plan might be based on the first floor floor plan I could imagine. Within no time Gemini found the exact fucking match of the floor plan style, community, city and the time it was built and by whom. It then gave me dimensions of my second floor with descriptions. Color me fucking impressed.

So I tried the same question with Claude and OpenAI. Both of them failed miserably. Both of them went on a tangent trying to read the image uploaded, looking at metadata on the image, trying to find out who uploaded the image and generally were inconclusive and did not yield anything meaningful. Both of them gave up and said they did not have any idea, however both did say it’s a common floor in VA area after I prompted them that I lived in VA (duh!). Betting against Google in AI is a fool’s errand and I have no doubt in my mind that Google will win the AI race.
