Mystery Spot

When gravitation pulls tricks on you, this is what happens:

Mystery!

As Calvin would say, your perspective gets muddled, and you lose your balance. Easily one of the best places we’ve visited in California, and who would’ve guessed that a two-log cabin would be this much fun?!

Wide Angle Fun

So after months of searching on net, I finally bought the Canon Ultra Wide 10-22 lens. Ever since I used a wide angle lens on my Lake Tahoe trip, I have had a desire to own one, though it is pretty expensive at 700$ retail price. I looked at other options like Sigma 10-20 and Tokina 12-24 and 11-16 which are significantly cheaper, but I was not able to make up my mind.

Enter Live search and eBay discount. Basically by using Live search for products on eBay, I got a discount of 25% off brand new canon lens. The result was I got it at same price I’d have paid for Tokina. Needless to say I am very happy 😉

Today evening on my usual walk, I took the lens with me for some random photo shoots. One thing about California I can’t complain is its amazing weather. It was pleasant, very windy and the sun was setting down, giving the perfect light for outdoor shots.

Here are some photos from the shoot – Almost all images were modified very little or in some cases no modification at all. I am really impressed by the sharpness and color saturation this lens can produce. Needless to say I am going to have a blast using this lens 😉

Enjoy the pics.

Work

How does it feel like finishing 10 days worth of work in 2 days? Very glad. I can now waste then next 8 days on useless banter and time pass hehehe :D. I love work 😛

I hope my manager is not reading this! Dang!

More Changes!

Now my blog is black. I dunno how long it will last, so far I am liking it. Plus, clicking on photos takes you to our photo site, which is black background too. Sort of wanted to give it a black consistent feel. Nonetheless, regular readers will know things can change very quickly on my blog :p

Subtle Theme Changes

After much experimentation I am back to my old theme. I love this minimalist look, but taking feedback from readers I have decided to re-introduce the “recent posts” block. The single biggest feedback I got was that it was cumbersome to go through my previous posts one by one, which I think makes sense. I didn’t want to clutter this page, but a simple list should suffice. I think I like the balance right now – now, readers can go back to my last 10 posts from home page itself.

In other changes, I have added text to the icons above. I didn’t think it would look nice with text and images, but I am surprised – it does look good to me 😉

So there – I think these changes should last me a while now hehe!

Eureka!

It is said that answers to the most important of questions come to you when you are not looking for them. I believe it now. A question had been haunting me ever since Balaji Teleflims irrevocably ruined Indian Television: exactly where does Ekta Kapoor draw her inspiration from, for all her teleserials?

And I am glad to announce I have found the answer the last night. It is from this little known movie:

Sau Din Saas Ke

Great going Firefox

With version 3, you have finally copied Safari! So much for Anti-Windows. Now I don’t know why must I keep using Firefox when I can use the inbuilt Safari!

Little Miss Sunshine

A bittersweet comedy, ultimately pointless movie though. I was waiting for the movie to take off – it never did. Nonetheless, its a cute movie.

And there

Just 3 days I ago I was wondering about Flickr and Yahoo, and effect of Yahoo’s problems. Today I read that founders of Flickr have left. That probably seals the deal on Flickr doing anything visionary further.

In a way I am glad I have moved to Smugmug, but at the same time I feel sorry for Flickr. Flickr given all its issues is the best photo community out there, and I have learnt more about photography just by being there.

To Flickr founders – may you find something new and exciting as Flickr!
