Also interesting history. Turks is a overseas territory of Britain, but uses dollar as official currency. The country(?) has tried to gain independence thrice but that movement has largely drowned out, I guess, mostly because all residents of Turks are British citizens, and part of also European Union (don’t know how). Turks citizens can work/live anywhere in EU but that reciprocal rights doesnn’t exist.

The country (?) has no public transportation of any kind, and while highways and roads are serviceable, I don’t know how locals navigate daily living with such costs. Even restaurants out of town in booneylands are expensive even by usa standards. This has been a quite a revelation for me.

Ya’all complaining about gas prices in the USA – the average gas prices I am seeing are in 7-9$ range per gallon. I honestly have no idea how local population functions here with the exorbitant cost of nearly everything, coz from surface, outside main tourist areas this country is about as poor as Dominican Republic.

We wanted to do a mangrove kayak tour yesterday that we backed out at last minute. Crossing a choppy channel with one youngster and one non swimmer seemed too much of a risk to take for me so I called it off even though the folks were super nice to offer instructors traveling with us to finish it.

Later at night I got an email that my entire kayak trip was refunded. I did not ask for it and I was like ok money lost our fault. Pleasant surprise and really thankful!
