My ex-company had another round of massive layoffs that saw their product and engineering teams decimated. As a small startup if you have to layoff a massive number of product & engineering folks its a very bad indication of where the company itself is going. I hope the remaining folks know what to do.

I take a end of the school year video of the kid on the last day every year; I ask her the same questions that I’ve asked her from her first grade. I am looking forward to this one to see how her final year in elementary vs first year will turn out.

Well, I guess thats that for Asimov’s [Foundation](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2t0BGkVQMuQ) then? The second season looks more of a run of the mill Sci-Fi show than the books, but really is there a good way to even televise the books at this pt? The first season baring few episodes was just plain simple boring, and this one looks like they’ve abandoned the book in favor of a Sci-Fi show. Hope I am wrong and it turns out better than the trailer looks.

I dont get the allure of split level homes. They look like half built houses that barely grow out of the ground.

I often keep wondering what happened to Katie Porter. She burst on the scene with her boards and systematic takedown of so many individuals. And then she has kind of disappeared- almost like the democratic establishment decided she is ruffling too many feathers and it was best to keep her out and ignore her.

Dad’s left to meet his best friend in New York. Both wife and I thought the excitement & anticipation on his face was far greater than meeting us. This is one friend whom he can’t stop talking about once he starts so I try to just avoid talking about him at all costs. I mean he’s a nice guy, nice family but you know in the last 20+ years I’ve been in the USA I’ve talked to him a grand total of 4-5 times, most of which are during when dad’s here. He’s never once called me while i was doing masters, or invited me anywhere (as much as he says now *do you need an invite?*) in the last 20+ years. I respect that distance but I also dont have any specific interest in harboring any relations with him or his family at this point. No hard feelings. Of course if you ask my dad I wouldn’t even have survived by myself without his watchful eyes on me. Their friendship is so strong that dad has chosen to spend a couple of his birthdays with him while in USA while my 5 year old disappointedly thought her grandpa would be with her. This time too he was all gung-ho about his grandkid’s birthday until I reminded him his own grandkid’s birthday party was this weekend and graduation was later this week. He half heartedly decided to come back on graduation day, which I guess is still a big improvement over just missing it all together. (*No, we did talk about moving the visit to next week to accommodate our events but that would be too much to expect lol*).

On the other hand, I know how much his son and daughter make each year thanks to some taunted shade that dad throws my way and I’m like yeah good for you, but I am not telling you my salary so you can have a measuring contest with your bestie. Anyway, house is going to be empty for a few days which means business as usual!

Rohit Sharma’s comments about WTC final are exactly what I expected in present day Indian player mentality. *Why can’t it be played in march?*, *Why not different country? (meaning, India)*, *Why not best of 3 test matches?* and all such. Essentially Rohit is saying, lets play the WTC final in India, in pitches of our choice that we can doctor for extreme spin from day 1, and while at it, lets just make it best of 3 so we can adjust our pitches to make us win the title. Sure you can do all that, but the beautiful game suffers. There is nothing wrong with a one off test final in the mecca of Cricket. Just keep it that way. If you are not good enough you are not good enough. No need to make so many excuses around it.

But but but Fox news told me all the liberal cities are crime central of the USA that need cleansing. What happened? How did most of the safest counties happen to be blue states? Must be wrong….

> [These Are The 15 Safest And 15 Least Safe Counties In America](https://www.fatherly.com/news/safest-least-safe-counties-in-america-map-story)
> Regardless of how the cookie crumbles, there are a few major takeaways. One: In general, the safest counties in the United States are almost exclusively on the East Coast, with the exception of a few counties in Ohio, Illinois, Colorado, and Georgia. Two of the counties on the list are in New York City — Queens County and New York County — and many others are in New Jersey and New York suburbs.

>And similarly, the most dangerous counties in America are almost exclusively landlocked areas. The least safe county in America? Big Horn County, Montana. Counties in Mississippi, Maryland, Arkansas, and a handful in South Carolina, Kentucky, Alaska, and Arizona all hit the list.

It’s 2023 and the government says it will take months to fix i95, one of the most important highways of northeast corridor? Like just call the Dutch or the Chinese and they will be done in 2 weeks. Months is so fucking laughable.
