Tysons Corner Mall should simply be renamed as Mall of the Emirates! Mall 2 which houses who’s who of super expensive brands is half jokingly referred to as Dubai Mall because you really don’t see anyone else there anymore (I mean they are the only people who *can* literally afford anything there!). Now even Mall 1, which is the larger and more traditional mall of the two has become the same. Of course it helps that Tysons and McLean area have a huge population of very rich middle easterners so its not very surprising to see it. Brings back memories of Kuwaiti malls from decades ago.

Today we did performance review of everyone across the board in my org. It usually is presided by HR and everyone has a frank conversation around teammates within their own teams and outside the teams. Heated debates are natural with each manager pitching their own report. In the end we thought we came to a fair conclusion and assigned ratings. Then HR turns around and says great, now you as an org have two abnormalities based on the ratings – 1, you have too many POC women with low ratings and 2/ you don’t have enough men with high ratings. We all thought we had a fair discussion on every single person in the org and yet the outcome of the exercise was flagged. So we spent another 2 hours after already spending 5 hours discussing bias, and whether we miscalibrated. We ran the whole process again only to come up 1 woman coming out of the group and 1 man moving up the chain. I hate performance reviews for this reason – there is just no good fucking way to ever evaluate people and no matter how much training you take when you put a collective number of people in a room some implicit bias will find its way. Ugh. This is the part of the job I absolutely hate.

I sincerely hate the days here when it rains nonstop entire day, or sometimes days together. Like I am ok with rain of few hours, but to sit through it from morning till night and with no relent, its absolutely miserable. Even more worse for the doggo that he can’t basically go out at all burn his energy and even his pee/poo breaks become a chore.

I honestly think BCCI is a better and less corrupt body than FIFA and thats saying something. Like Saudi Arabia hosting the world up in 2034 is basically money pit talking. At least BCCI simply refuses to play in UAE and around after the match fixing incidents in 90s.

Honestly, Mangione should just announce his candidacy for presidency in 2028. He may actually win considering his acts were not condemned on either side of aisle. He might be the Lisan Al Gaib to unite this broken nation.

Looking at the abundance of Indian items you get at Costco these days, its only a matter of time before Costco launches an in-house Indian label called …. **Kirana**. Wait, did I just give away a business plan to Costco?

Thst Luigi guy was fucking rich and that’s what makes it even more awesome. I hope his family gets the best lawyers on earth and the jury acquits him of everything!

My golden retriever has become so lazy now that he won’t even get up to come by the door to greet me when I am home. He knows its me. He knows I will come cuddle him after I am back, so he’s figured out why must *he* waste his energy wagging his tail and acting cute when no matter what he’s going to get the cuddles? So he just sits there in middle of the room waiting for the hug. What a lazy fucking ass!

[My post](https://supremus.micro.blog/2024/12/08/we-started-watching.html) from yesterday originated from micro.blog but entirety of the conversation and engagement on this post happened outside of micro.blog platform entirely, and on Mastodon/BlueSky. Had I not cross-posted it, it would’ve been just another post on micro. It made me really think what am I getting out of Micro? Do I use Micro as some “source of truth” and it just gets cross-posted elsewhere for engagement, or do I really think that Micro is the place for both posting and engagement? I feel more and more its the former where a post originates out of here but Micro by itself just a database of posts and nothing more, but then I’d have hoped that Micro became one-stop place to share anything on any platform but it falls so short there (i mean, croissant anyone?). I guess this product will have an identity problem.

Over the holidays I want to see if I can try out ghost platform for hosting my existing wordpress blog, and ideally have one app that cross posts to my blog on ghost, masto and bluesky as required in a simple easy way and not as cumbersome as it is today here. If I can achieve that successfully, I might just cancel my account here and invest in a good paid cross-posting app. Ghost is definitely on top of mind for holidays!

Two sleepless mornings and I am a solid wreck today. The early morning swim meet has taken its toll. Waking up at 4, hours drive and then 4-5 hours of swim and unpredictable traffic back, I ready to call it a weekend already!
