The one workplace training I dont miss from my edtech days in my big company? *Microaggressions*. Good grief, it was the most painful and absurdly stupid training ever. Like, absolutely anything you say, do or write could be construed as “micro-aggression” by another colleague with possibility of making your life hell (I never faced it, but so many ppl had in the company). It was to a point where every single conversation had to be so measured and so prim-n-proper that it was fucking annoying. Dont get me wrong, and microaggression has its place but good grief it was taken to another extreme in these new companies. Like just focus on your job and get out!

This week I have 6 meetings on my calendar which is a record low anyway, but icing being 4 of them are today! Which means past today whether I take days off or not it’s mostly a forced holiday week 😆
Got the yearly heating inspection done and apparently the heating backup is not working. Nah I ain’t spending another 2k fixing this electric shit. Gonna just budget for replacing it with gas furnance next year. Done with this fake electric shit.
On the plus side days are going get longer from now on yay yay yay! Fuck winter can’t wait for spring!
First truly cold walk of the season in feels like 20 degree weather today. It was biting cold allright but I have got my layers down to a T that I still work up a sweat on the walk even if my ears and face are frozen!
Went to return a a few items at UPS store and saw an old grandma shipping home baked cookies to multiple people paying 50-90$ per box she shipped because she wanted them delivered before Christmas. I saw three of them. I just hope the the people whom she sent the cookies love her back as much.
I have a packet full of Pav and too many potatoes and that can only mean one thing that I am going to attempt Pav vada today!
I wonder if I was born in the 1990s or early 2000s would I also be a “content creator” instead of a blogger? I mean technically all of us “bloggers” of early 2000s were content creators of that decade.
In an phone screen interview yesterday the candidate introduced herself(?) as *”Hi, I am X, and my pronouns are X-XX-XX”*. This is the first time in the last however months I’ve been interviewing someone called out their pronouns on the call and my first reaction internally was damn thats some hokey-wokey shit right there. Like I get it, but the context matters. We are in an interview. I am not going to call you by your pronoun if you are sitting right in front of me but call you by your name, if at all required. Nothing in the interview format (which candidates know well in advance!) require any of this pronouns BS. Now if you were already hired and you are sending an intro email, or setting your slack status please absolutely call your pronouns – its important, but using it anywhere without context makes it look really inauthentic and comes across as needless.
Coastal Karnataka is one of the most under explored but absolutely gorgeous areas of India. Part of me wants it to stay that way. I didn’t even know they had their own backwaters until wife sends me pictures this morning and I am like whoa that is stunning!
