Today I talked to a fresh graduate out of college for the role I have open. I really wished this person didnt try so hard for this because everything was coming out so fake it wasn’t registering. Like, just be yourself and it works most of the times. There is no need to fit your graduate experience in context of workplace. I know you don’t have the experience, but don’t force fit things into corporate jargon speak. I wish I could move this candidate further, but unfortunately I just cant.

Honestly last night aurora viewing was amazing. A bucket list item for my wife more than me it was extremely memorable, and they truly are spectacular phenomenon to witness! Now that we have seen them I joke that we no longer have to plan a trip anytime in winter for this. I am satisfied enough that I don’t need a trip in winter to see these!

From a strategy standpoint it is cool that Walz’s rally yesterday was simulcast on Twitch to reach the young male voters on that platform. But to expect that those young male voters will get off their couch and actually vote (no matter which party!) is a bit far fetched and laughably unrealistic. Remember that this is the same bunch of voters who found it too cold to vote in VA governor election causing us to have Youngkin. Wake me up when that generation of men actually drag their stinky selves out of their sofas, take a shower and head out to vote. I will wait.
Kamala has not made many mistakes in this campaign but she walked right into the trap by DeSantis didn’t she? Didn’t need that after a few sub par interviews. DeSantis appropriately is taking full advantage. Like just come on hold it together for last 3 weeks!!
Unpopular opinion: Kamala flubbed 2 out of 3 interviews she did in the last couple of days. Personally thought she was at her best on The View and the worst on 60 minutes. This is why doing these early and often would have sharpened her message & tone by now. Now gonna be a scramble. The amount of word salad answers oofff.
There are very, very few Indian business leaders and ultra wealthy people that I truly respected a lot. Truly one of India’s greats, and for folks like us living through the 90s he was (and remains) an icon. RIP!
Elon Musk buying a vote for 47$ is literally the way Indian election works for most part. You promise money or equivalent gifts to get the vote. I never, ever thought I’d see this happen in America also! That said, even while a lot of Indian electorate is uneducated and don’t really know who/why they are voting for, the Indian election commission still tries to ensure that voting is accessible to every citizen in India no matter how far, remote or completely out of the way they are. There is every effort made to ensure voting access, no matter whether people even care or understand what/they are voting for. I just feel like every election voting rights and access are going backwards in USA. Now combined with straight out bribes to get your votes, this country is heading in a dark direction.
For the role I have posted, an internal person wanted to apply. This person has been around for a few years and manages other managers. The only problem – this person decided to page me to express interest. If you have worked in this company, a page usually indicates a severe issue where your involvement is needed immediately. You are required to acknowledge the page and respond appropriately to it. So while I am driving home, I get this page! I drive to corner of road to stop to see what happened and what set off my phone, and what do I see – “I am interested in your role”. Like really? fucking really? paging me for that? Once I got home, I immediately pinged that person and let them know it was not cool what they did. Their response – “I apologize for inconvenience”. Of course this person would’ve never moved ahead in my queue purely because of this ridiculous incident, but the fact that even after pointing out why they should’ve not done it, their response was half hearted crap. Thankfully this person withdrew their application and saved themselves the joy of me rejecting them. Ugh.
