@santoshhari Yep as long as you get a decent org and manager in a big company it’s actually not bad at all. I did some of my most personally satisfying and successful work at Amazon and Cisco. None of the smaller companies have given me the sense of ownership, drive and autonomy to just build. This whole “you are the CEO of your product” at smaller companies is such bullshit of highest order.

Several of us who jumped ship from our old company here meet regularly to just vent and talk. One of them is already interviewing to boomerang back. Twice I have left the mothership and twice I have felt now that even at its worst Amazon is still better than hajaar companies out there.

My problem is not the title inflation or salary but the performative theater they are engaging in because they don’t know any better. They came at high positions, but the company doesn’t really need that kind of people. Now they are stuck with the pressure from top leadership to deliver but they simply can’t because the laws of physics still apply. So they all have to engage in grand performative crap to show how useful they are.

My company laid off entire eng and product org based out of Mexico, and then did an all hands to answer questions. Not a single question was answered with sincerity or honesty and made everything even more worse. The company also recently hired a big swath of “senior executives” who pretty much came in as friends of leaders at inflated title position – and now everyone’s like yep, somebody had to pay for the inflated saleries and positions – and our friends paid the price.

@AnirbanM More than half. There is a huge population that are closeted in their support. One thing that unites folks across parties is their common hate for black and brown people. Just look at the discourse on h1b right now.

This country is so fundamentally broken that I need to keep reminding myself to avoid all news and videos altogether to keep my sanity and mental peace. I do not have it in me anymore nor do I care.
