I was supposed to be in California this week starting today but I ended up canceling the trip. I am so past this age where work travel excites me anymore and I will not do it unless absolutely required. I booked all my tickets 2 weeks ago and then as days went by I was like I really don’t care about the partner that we were supposed to meet enough that I would fly 6 hours back and forth between two days.

My company went from being ex-Amazon dominated in leadership to now ex-Google dominated and the differences are so stark. The ex-Amazonian leaders did not get along well but their inherent tension actually made everyone have tough and blunt conversations even if it meant high pressure. The leaders took care of their teams and protected them. Contrast to now it feels like we are all in one big happy family where nobody wants to challenge anyone anymore but nobody likes each other anyway. The leaders have their own view points and have rarely asked their staff what we should do. We haven’t even gotten even a simple “thanks” from one of these ex Google leaders. Don’t get me wrong they are all frigging smart chaps (and sharper than Amazonian leaders) but I feel like I am working with a bunch of cold robots than with people with fiery personality. It’s interesting to see what qualities Amazon values more in leadership vs Google does and why so many people boomerang back from each other.

@pratik Yeah I need to look into it – I don’t want to use work Claude code for it. And I barely get to use home Mac coz kid has kabza over it. I am seriously considering a Mac mini or studio just so I can have my own playpen.

I have been trying both origin and monarch and while origin ai and financial advice is far more superior, monarch I think is still better from just tracking perspective. Origin has a lot more investment features that I need to deep dive time permitting to see what they mean.

@AnirbanM I had the same opinion prior to show but they sold it better than the actual silo lol. I was like why do I even care how it came to be but turns out their story is actually more fun to watch coz they sell it well.

@AnirbanM But yes the tension in the last 5 minutes of S3E9 is some of the best moments this series has produced and those shots of last 10 seconds was just really well done.

@AnirbanM S1 was fantastic, S2 is terrible, S3 picks up post episode 4 into gear. They really should have just dumped S2 into can – ifs after effects are felt on this show. Thankfully S4 is the last season so they are gonna wrap it up.

@AnirbanM On the other hand I use AI to turn my 2 sentence slack to a 5 page strategy doc that my leaders quickly use AI to summarize it back to 2 lines. Win win for all and as long as tokens are burnt for useless purposes I am in.
