I’ve been working on photos from our Spain trip and over and over again I keep going back to Seville-Cordoba-Granada pictures. I can’t decide whether I liked the Alhambra more than Mezquita/Alcazar or the other two are better in some ways. Each of them left such an impression on me. We absolutely need to do an extended Andalusian vacation again sometime in future, but this time just focus on that area and take our time.

Remember majority of people and the people who didn’t vote, both voted for whatever is happening right now. Do not save the republic for them. Save your sanity and figure out an exit path. You will never save the majority who actively want to fuck themselves up and they sure as well will not mind dragging you with them into the abyss.
Abigail Spanberger is leading such a weird campaign for VA governor. Like she is everywhere but here in Northern VA. Woman, your only path to winning Governors race in VA goes through Northern Virginia. You better start showing up here or you end up like Kamala. On the other hand, Winsome as miserable as she is has already been in my overtly democratic city twice already and held town halls. Whoever is running Spanberger’s campaign needs a reality check.
The M4 Mac does not allow you to access expert calibration mode to calibrate the laptop display. WTF? I can access the advanced calibration mode using the option keys on any external monitor, but it simply won’t allow me to do the same to the laptop display! One of the first things I do with a new laptop is to calibrate the display manually to my taste. I can’t believe they took it away from us!
Here is how it will go: Texas will indeed redistrict their maps. Democrats will send threatening SMS begging us for more money. Newsom will try something similar in California but with a lot less conviction or drive. Some democrats will also complain death of democracy in California. Supreme Court will step in and say CA can’t do shit. Newsom folds his tail and sits on side. Texas gets what it wants. Mark my words.
WTF apple? I did not know stolen device protection was on (or forgot about it). But the side effect is that if I remove an exchange account and want to add it back, I am prevented from doing so coz apple thinks my iPhone is at an unfamiliar location and I have to wait 1 hour for “security” – pray what security are you offering by disallowing me to add an exchange account? I am at work 5 days a week and apple thinks its not familiar? turning this whole thing off right now.
Having grown up with section 144 every time there were riots in the city in India, white folks have absolutely no idea how bad things can and will get. While controversial, section 144 was always seen as a necessary action to maintain peace/law & order, don’t be under any confusion that Trump deploying National Guard to DC is not an equivalent of it. But sure, keep planning your fancy weekend protests between 10am-12pm because it cannot interfere with your end-of-summer party at the swim club.
Proof that AI is not ready? My dad gave up his GC this year and is going for an interview for a B-1 tourist visa for US next month. He was on GC for two years in which he came to usa for 60 days at a time. We decided it was never worth it for him to stay on GC (the pandemic changed all calculations). I asked Claude and Gemini the same question on a complex issue about his upcoming interview and his time as a GC. I was expecting similar answers from both – turns out they are so far apart from each other that I have no idea whom to trust anymore. Yeah, trust AI at your own peril 😀
To be fair, I find all paid AI tools like Claude/ChatGPT/Perplexity too expensive for me right now. Of course thanks to my company I have access to many internal or externally built models that I can use them for my specific use cases for free, so I do have that advantage. But even then, if I did not have access to these tools, I am not sure if I would be missing THAT much just yet.
Google Gemini is too expensive at 20 bucks a month to be useful to me. I tried it out for trip planning to Spain and it did a great job at it, and more and more I’ve been using it for search too, but it feels largely too much for 20 bucks. At 2.99 or 1.99 a month I would be subscribing to it as a no-brainer, but at 20 bucks, nah, I am ok putting a little extra effort in my google searches.
