2006

I really wanted to do a long sentimental nostalgic post about the year 2006, with month by month analysis of what I did and all, but when I sat down to write about it, I thought it was quite pointless and ultimately inconsequential. Hence, I decided to do a quick list of good, bad and ugly things that’ve happened in my life and around me this year, a sort of laundry list for year 2006.

Here goes:

The Good:

I had the best summer season in my life (june-septemeber), and it was thanks to my swimming pool and the lifeguard. 3 months of intense training in the pool has made an amazing change in my life. I was so freaking scared of water, but it almost feels like a joke when i think about it now. I cannot wait for the next swim season again to restart practice!

I started playing Tennis. I am pre-amateur, pre-level 1, but hey, I enjoyed it. I had to make a decision between swimming and tennis a lot of times this spring-summer, but I chose swimming and stuck to it.

I started nokjhok.com and techb.org. When I started them I was not sure if they would be sustainable either financially or content wise. I was right on content – it is simply impossible to be active on all three blogs at once. Though i was pleasantly wrong on financial part. Though I cannot reveal the numbers, I can safely say that both text link ads and google adsense (majorly) have helped me recover at least 15 times the investment I made into these websites, enough to buy me two dell laptops if I so wished 🙂

Went to India for 2 weeks. That seemed so loooooooooong ago 🙁

Attended the first music concert in my life. There were exactly 8 people in the concert. Then attended the Rob Thomas concert a couple of weeks later, where there thousand times more people.

Had a grand holiday season with lots of shopping, half of them I am already bored of.

A lot of my friends either got married and had kids, or got married, or are getting married very soon.

The Bad:

Multimedia Singh decided that reservations are good. Even the most intelligent politician on earth showed he is only, after all, a scumbag. On a related note, Lalu Prasad Yadav remarked he was gunning for the Prime Minister post. I wish he confirms it so I can start applying for immigration to Mars.

More Iraqi civilians diedthis year. Very soon there won’t be any trace of human life there. Then Bush can finally claim he won the war.

I developed a bad leg injury which refuses to heal. I have been injured in my knees and legs since September, and it just refuses to heal. The fact that I cannot even run properly has been a cause of concern, though I just cannot seem to help it; I have let my legs heel by themselves.

My Sony VAIO Laptop died earlier this year. One fine day I decided to reboot the machine and that was it. It never came back. I tried everything – the UV, mouth to mouth respiration, even a heart surgery. But it just refused to come back to life.

Another year has gone with me making plans to switch from Windows to MAC. I’ve been waiting and waiting and waiting for that perfect MAC to come by, but the more I wait, the more I feel its all too pointless. Why do I want to switch anyways in the first place?

Wasted a whole month of December blogging and fighting with idiots at IBM/Lenovo; resulting in endless hours wasted in blogging and more in talking to bunch of prize-purple jellyfishes. I could have watched so many Mithun or Alok Nath movies instead!

Finally closed down dogmatrix.com – it was difficult, but necessary.

The Ugly:

It has been an extremely bad year with my whole clan and injuries. Some of my relatives got sick, others met with accident, someone else went to hospital; even my folks had their tryst with accidents. Sometimes things just compound and come together. I hope to see a relatively peaceful next year.

Made a lot of grandiose trips about where I wanted to spend my new year – places like Tahiti, Carribean, Brazil, Peru and all popped in my head. Ultimately I am spending my New years in New York, with enough vacations and time to blog about such ridiculous end of year topics such as this!

And lastly:

I still haven’t found what I’m looking for…
