This [reddit thread on smog in salt lake](https://www.reddit.com/r/mildlyinfuriating/comments/1h8arq0/i_live_in_utah_this_is_not_fog_this_is_the_air/) was illuminating. I did not know this affected a LOT of places in the rockies, including Denver and seems like this is normal at this point of the year.
