Holiday Wishlist!

I’ve been a very good boy this year. In fact, I’ve never been this good :D.

Hence, this year during the holidays, the santa has blessed me with many gifts. More than what I could think of. Half of them I could have led my life without. But then, gifts are lovely, and how much nicer is it when you gift gifts to yourself?

So here’s a quick list on things that I bought gifted myself this holidays, and what I think about them 😀

Drill Drill!Black & Decker BDG1200K 12-Volt Cordless Gel Max Compact Drill Kit.

I have no idea why I bought this, except that it seemed to be on a good deal when I bought it. It arrived last week, and I have slightest idea of where to use it. Maybe when I move my TV to another better position (maybe, perhaps, some day…), this will be a useful tool to move my entire 100 feet of wiring around the home theatre. Till then, this sits uselessly in a corner.

Rebel XTICanon Rebel XTi

I have always always wanted to be in photography. For a long long time I had been looking at Nikon D50, D70 and Rebel XT. And then Nikon released D80 and Canon released XTi – making my decision making more confusing. Eventually I settled for Rebel XTi as I got a very good deal on Dell Accessories (in fact, very good deal :D, and super fast shipping!). I have been taking pictures daily now, but I am not there yet. Operating a Digital SLR is so much more complicated than a normal digital camera. Its quite complicated (at least for now), and I am learning all the buzzwords like “aperture”, “exposure”, “spot meter” etc etc. In a few days time I will upload some first images through my camera. And oh, the camera is amazing – great response, fast, and very well designed UI.

Lens Lens!Canon 28-135 IS USM Lens

If only operating Digital SLR was without its share of issues! So to tag along with my camera, now I also got lens for shooting good pictures. The Lens has been great – the zoom distance is quite awesome, and though the images tend to be on softer side, I am not complaining! It has image stabilizer built in (eh, what is that? Relax, i am just throwing buzzwords here!), and a solid feel. The funny part is, this thing is so freaking huge, its heavier than the camera itself, and almost seems bigger than the body of the camera itself! Its kind of funny how this thing is. Some day when i become a better photographer, I will better lens and start charging people for using me (as they now :D)).

GPSTomTom Go 700

Now this was one of the most bizzare and unnecessary purchases I made this year, and it almost seems useless. But I got it anyways on the American Express wish-list promotion. There are some slick features though – The UI is just fabulously designed; in fact very intelligent UI design i would call it – Everything that I would ever want to know while driving is presented to me in neat readable format. I couldnt care less if the woman spoke at all while giving directions. Which she does, quite minimally, thankfully :D. Plus, this thing also has bluetooth connectivity and mic inbuilt – my phone syncs up with the device, and I can make calls or receive calls directly through the GPS – how cool is that?! I was expecting echoes and noise on the bluetooth connectivity, but it works flawless. All in all, though quite unnecessary, this GPS has been a good purchase.

Lousy Lenovo!And lastly, the Lenovo 3000 N100.

I have said enough about this lousy piece of trash. Easily the worst purchase of this season (bad bad santa hehe), and more the reason it is featured last on this list!

What else? Mmhh…. Thats about it. Thats about all I got this holiday season. Nothing much you see :d. Be good this year, and who knows santa may bless you next year 😀

Its the most…. wonderful…..time…. of the year!
