Quirky Observations on Air Travel

Musings after taking a trip from DC to JFK to Kuwait and back in the same route:

  • ….If you are brown skinned, be prepared to see SSSS on your boarding card. Someone joked that it means “SSSSCREWED!”, but quite literally means Special Security Screening Service. Not once, not twice, but I went through it the entire itineary at every single stop! I didnt mind it, but couldnt help notice the irony and the discrimination. Why only dark skinned or foreigners are pulled aside? To all dark skinned people – allow yourself extra time at the airports.
  •
....Indians should have special travel restrictions, especially weight. For some goddamned reasons, Indians love to travel heavy! And really heavy! And they are quite un-apologetic about it too on the plane when they dont find enough overhead space to stow their luggage! God bless the planes which actually carry the weight!

....You can take Indian out of India, but you cannot take Indian out of Indian in an Air line. Even having lived a considerable time in the states, they can't pick up basic civic sense on how to be on an aircraft! Its not a flight, its a literal mela in the air. And I ain't talking about Air India Yet.

....There is always one nincompoop on the plane who wants to use the restroom just when the plane is about to hit the runway. It is only through god's mercy and hostess's training that the poor sod is returned back to safety.

....American Airlines is the worst possible airlines. I had to wait 10 hours at JFK to travel, guess what, 55 minutes of flight from JFK to DC. I could have walked instead!

....Gujjus can be hilarious on long journey plane rides.

....Half the people on the plane assume that the host or hostess is quite literally their servant.

....Kuwait airways has one of the most laziest onground staff. I was told there are no window seats available in my class, though in the plane, there were more than 5 avaiable for anyone to sit.

I am sure there are more… will add more as I remember them!
