Improving Computer Performance.
Frankly speaking, I have couple of reviews to post, but I am bored to finish them and put them on the web. This topic caught my eye while I was doing ‘general surfing’ on MS. I looked at the reviews and me thought – why don’t I give some free advice to all my net savvy friends here on MS! Brilliant idea, isn’t it? Get ready to tortured for another 5000 characters of the review. However if you finish reading this, chances are you will be as smart as me!!!
Ram Ram, RAM, Kaisen Ho?
The only thing on your computer which can significantly improve your system performance is the RAM. If you think your computer is too slow, a fast CPU is not going to help you much, but a good dose of additional RAM will. Why? RAM happens to be the fastest memory residing on your PC, and it stores all the most commonly used pointers to programs, ensuring speedy access to all your programs. So if you are still stuck in a moment with 128 Mb, then its time to move to 256 Mb. For windows XP, 512 seems a safer option to upgrade. Only, don’t upgrade blindly – check first whether the mother of the PC (mother-board for the novice) approves any additional children on itself. If she gives the go-ahead, the first thing to do is this!
Boot the booty first!
One of the ways to improve your system performance is to make your boot partition smaller than the rest. When your system boots, imagine the system having to scan through a huge partition and initialize your drive. The boot drive (usually the C:\ drive, can change if you have multiple OS running) should not be more than 3 Gb. The boot drive is the drive which has your Operating system installed and hence its called boot drive simply it stores the booty! By ensuring the booty to be small, you ensure that your system boots the booty the faster and ready to use.
